Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about chord charts, transcription, and how Chordician works.

What is Chordician?
Chordician is a chord chart reference site created from professional music transcription work. Instead of publishing full sheet music, the charts focus on harmony, song structure, and timing so musicians can rehearse and perform more efficiently.
What chart formats does Chordician provide?
Chordician charts are lyric-free chord charts designed for musicians. Depending on the song, charts may appear as:

• chord-only charts • slash notation charts • Nashville Number System (NNS) charts

Some songs also support synchronization with YouTube playback, although features may vary between songs.
Why does a song sometimes have only one chart format?
Not every song currently includes every chart format. Some songs may only have a chord-only chart or a Nashville Number System chart.

Our main focus right now is expanding the song library rather than producing every possible format for each chart.
Do I need to install an app to use Chordician?
No additional application is required. Chordician works directly in your browser and behaves similarly to a digital sheet music reader.
How do I navigate charts during rehearsal or performance?
Chordician supports multiple navigation methods so musicians can use the charts comfortably while playing:

• keyboard navigation • mouse or trackpad • touch swipe on mobile devices • wireless page turners commonly used with digital sheet music
Does Chordician support auto-scroll like lyric websites?
No. Chordician charts are designed to be read like traditional sheet music.

Instead of auto-scrolling text, the layout uses structured measures and sections so musicians can follow the form of the song naturally.
Can I download charts or export them to iReal Pro?
No. Charts cannot be downloaded or converted to iReal Pro format.

They are designed to be read directly on the website as a reference during rehearsal or performance.
Why is the song library still relatively small?
All charts on Chordician are created through manual listening and harmonic analysis by a musician.

They are not AI-generated and not crowdsourced, so the library grows more slowly but maintains a consistent level of accuracy and quality.
Can users create or upload their own charts?
No. User-generated charts are not supported.

This is intentional. Chordician focuses on professionally prepared transcriptions rather than community-edited content.
Why doesn't a song have multiple versions of the same chart?
Chordician is not a community-edited platform. Each song usually has a single curated chart instead of multiple versions created by different users.
Can I request a specific chart format for a song?
Yes. If a song currently only has one format (for example NNS), you can request another format such as a chord-only chart.

Requests help guide which updates are prioritized.
Can I request a song chart?
Yes. Song chart requests are free and help guide which songs are added to the library.
How long does a chart request usually take?
Most requests take approximately 3–7 days.

Charts are prepared according to the transcription queue, so timing may vary depending on current workload.
What if I find a mistake in a chart?
Even with careful transcription, occasional mistakes can happen.

If you notice an error, please contact us and we will review the chart and update it if necessary.
